Karaṇa texts

The Karaṇa texts described astronomical calculations, but in a format that made computation more accurate. They did this by using 'zero points' that are closer to the current time than other calculation methods, as might be found in the Siddhāntas. [1]

The astronomer Deva describes the texts as being inconducive to accuracy. His work Karaṇaratna is partly an attempt to rectify these problems. [2]
