Nakṣatras

The Nakṣatras are the twenty seven (or twenty eight) basic asterisms, or constellations, around the ecliptic plane in Vedic astronomy. The name also refers to a regular division of the ecliptic, into groups of 800 arcminutes each.

They were slowly replaced over time, for many purposes, by the twelve Zodiacal Rāśis.[1]

Each Nakṣatra has a special name and attributes, as follows:[2][3]
